Abstract:

Multiple veterinarians treating a patient is an increasingly common feature in veterinary practice as more part-time and locum positions are created to meet the changing needs of the profession. Corresponding with this, VPIS has experienced an increase in claims where multiple veterinarians have been involved in the same case. These claims often involve mistakes and oversights resulting from shortcomings in relation to clinic notes, handover, follow-up and accountability.
