Abstract: Risk Group 4 pathogens pose high individual and community risk. They induce lifethreatening human or animal disease, and present a serious hazard to laboratory workers: effective treatment and preventive measures are not usually available. There are imperatives to progress research into development of relevant vaccines and therapeutics and currently, whether the end-target is human or animal use, proof of concept studies are required to be carried out in animals.
