Abstract: Lameness examinations can be extremely rewarding in equine practice, but sometimes the exact cause of lameness is not obvious on the initial examination. Additionally multiple limb lameness can be present and lameness arising from more than one region within a limb can complicate the examination. Performing and interpreting diagnostic anaesthesia, including perineural, intra-articular and intrathecal blocks, is important in establishing a definitive source of lameness and therefore guiding further diagnostic imaging and therapy.
