Abstract: The paper by IG Fernández-de-Mera, U Höfle, J Vicente, A Garcia, O Rodriguez and C Gortázar published in the New Zealand Veterinary Journal 54, 357359, 2006, entitled, Optimal dose and timing in phytohaemagglutinin skin-testing of deer contained an error with regard to the concentration of the dose of phytohaemagglutinin (PHA) used. In the subsection, PHA skin test, of the Materials and methods section, it was stated that: The animals were injected intradermally at three separate locations, with 10, 50 and 250 μg/ml PHA (Sigma-Aldrich, Missouri, USA), and one additional location with PBS, each separated by at least 4 cm; the volume injected was adjusted to 0.1 ml for all assays. This sentence should read The animals were injected intradermally at three separate locations, with 0.1 ml of 10, 50 and 250 μg PHA (Sigma-Aldrich, Missouri, USA), and one additional location with 0.1 ml of PBS, each separated by at least 4 cm.
