Abstract: A 2.5-year-old neutered male Labrador Retriever, imported from Western Samoa and recently released from quarantine, presented with a 3-week history of bleeding from the penis. Ultrasound demonstrated a soft tissue mass deep within the penis; cytology of a fine needle aspirate revealed a discrete population of round cells. The anatomical site, clinical history, and cell morphology were typical of TVT. The dog was euthanised and a necropsy revealed several verrucose, haemorrhagic masses up to 25 x 25 x 3 mm attached to the preputial mucosa at the penile reflection. This is the first recorded case of TVT in New Zealand.
