Abstract: We have followed UF an experiment reported by Oliver et al. where lambs were fed goats milk infected with caprine arthritis-encephalitis virus (CAEV). Four of the lambs, were observed until three years of age. An additional two lambs were obtained from a farm where orphan lambs had been fed on goats milk. The six lambs were pastured in isolation for three years and serum periodically collected and tested for antibodies to CAEV by ELISA. Five of the sheep remained sero-positive for CAEVantibody. During the experiment, none of the sheep developed clinical disease. Virus isolation was attempted from peripheral blood leucocytes from all sheep on three occasions at three month intervals between two and three years of age. Virus was isolated from the leucocytes of four of the six sheep on at least one occasion. Only two sheep..
