Abstract: In the September issue of the New Zealand Veterinary Journal (Vo1.33, pp 149-150), we read the Letter to the Editor regarding the treatment of 1080 poisoning in dogs with interest. We admitted a case of suspected 1080 toxicity to our clinic a few days ago. Subsequently we spent some time on the telephone to pharmaceutical companies, local pharmacists, the local Hospital pharmacy, and the local Hospital`s Accident and Emergency Department, trying to track down a source of glycerol monoacetate, acetamide or Donawick`s solution, all to no avail. Would it be possible to add a little to an article such as this, stating where and how the drugs are available or, for example, what Donawick`s solution is. Had we been able to readily obtain this information, we just may have saved a canine life.
