Abstract: A fatal syndrome occurring more commonly in low-mouthed ewes of all breeds with twin lambs at foot, 2 to 3 weeks after lambing and under nutritional stress, is described. Treatment of affected ewes was generally unsuccessful, but prevention of further serious losses was achieved by supplementary feeding, preferably with lucerne hay.
