A pinkeye-like condition in deer

Abstract: We wish to report the occurrence of a Pinkeye-like condition in a herd of red deer (C. elaphus). Twenty-five of a mob of 30 young adult red deer hinds transported from a single source to a property in Hawke`s Bay were affected. Ten additional deer from a second source which were transported in contact with these deer were unaffected at the time of writing. Lesions were first observed in one hind 7 days after arrival on the property and veterinary inspection revealed a further 7 cases. Fifteen more animals were affected 2 days later and 2 more were observed during the following 10 days
