Abstract: A 3-year-old, male, domestic short-haired cat showed depression, anorexia, pyrexia and severe anaemia with increased heart and respiratory rates. Haematological examination revealed evidence of a severe non-responsive anaemia with abnormal erythrogenesis suggestive of an erythroid malignancy. Examination of bone marrow films and tissue sections provided supportive evidence for a diagnosis of an erythroid malignancy, a classification of erythremic myelosis being indicated by the major involvement of the erythroid series cells.
