Abstract: I refer to the paper by Day on induction of parturition in a dairy herd. This report was read with a considerable degree of interest as it included results which are significantly different from those which we would have expected from extensive field experience in New Zealand and overseas. Firstly, it is difficult to accept that heifers calving some 2-8 days after the first injection of PGF2 alpha, and up to 12 days after a second injection, experienced dystocia as a result of administering a material which would have been eliminated some 2-12 days earlier…
