Abstract: During the last decade significant advances have been made in the control af oestrus and ovulation in domestic animals and this topic has been reviewed many times within that period (Hansel, 1964; Robinson, 1967; Jochle, 1969; Mauleon 1974). This paper compares the advantages and disadvantages of the major methods for oestrus control and discusses the major overall problems associated with this control. The various methods used for synchronization can be separated into four major categories progestagen, prostaglandin, other hormones and non-hormonal.
