Abstract: In recent years it has been common practice to use a spaced vaccination technique with Brucella ovis oil vaccine, rather than the simultaneous admlinistration of Br. abortus and Br. ovis vaccines. Both techniques had the disadvantage of leaving unsightly subcutaneous lesions, particularly following the double Br. ovis method. Because of this, ram vaccination against this disease lost favour with stud breeders and commercial flockmen alike. Following recognition that ovine brucellosis was once again emerging as a production-limiting problem in flocks, interest in vaccination was revived
