Abstract: On a recent visit to New Zealand I had the opportunity to read an article in the July issue entitled Induction of Lutelolysis in Mares by M. D. Berwyn-Jones and C. H. J. Irvine (N.Z. vet. J., 22: 107). In view of the general interest in prostaglandins in controlling reproduction in domestic animals, and particularly the current marketing of prostaglandin analogues, this article was of considerable interest. Nevertheless, I was somewhat surprised to find that the opening paragraph of this paper makes a bald statement concerning the role of prostaglandin F2α in regression of the corpus luteum in domestic animals
