Abstract: A biphasic increase in vascular permeability occurs following turpentine and thermal injury in the sheep; an early phase seems to be mediated by histamine (Lancaster and Vegad, 1967; Vegad, 1971). In contrast, mediation of the delayed phase, which appears to be the major part of the response, remains uncertain. This is similar to the situation in the rat (Spector and Willoughby, 1965) and the guinea-pig (Wilhelm, 1965).  However, recent investigations in the rat and the guinea-pig into the mediation of the delayed phase suggest that mediation of the delaved phase may depend on the formation of kinins by a “globulin-kinin forming system” activated following injury…
