Abstract: Clostridium botulinum is widely distributed throughout the world and botulism has occurred in many countries (Meyer, 1956; FAO, 1968). There appears to be no published information on the occurrence of either the organism or the disease in New Zealand. The investigations reported in this paper concern an outbreak of botulism in wild waterfowl near Auckland city in early 1971.
