Abstract: lnfortnation issued to practising veterinarians in this country at the time of the introduction of selenium for the control of white muscle disease and some forms of hogget ill-thrift stressed two cautionary points: the first was that the U.S. market had a nil tolerance level for selenium in its meat imports, and the second, that this nil tolerance requirement was based on a suspicion that selenium had a carcinogenic action. From recent correspondence from D. V. Frost of Vermont, ,a research worker in this field, it would appear that both of the above points need updating
