Abstract:

This condition, affecting pigs from weaner to porker sizes, occurs in Northland, so it was decided to survey the problem and try to reach some conclusion as to the cause and possible treatment. Information was collected through the Northland Branch of the New Zealand Veterinary Association, and replies were received from veterinarians who had encountered the condition in the following centres: Whangarei, Warkworth, Maungaturoto, Kaitaia, Kaikohe, Dargaville, and Ohaeawai.
