Editor's Note: These guidelines were first published in the Australian Veterinary Journal 96:413-427, 2018; doi: 10.1111/avj.12762 as "Standards of Care. Anaesthesia guidelines for dogs and cats". They were subsequently produced as a guideline document for practitioners by the Australian Small Animal Veterinarians. The latter group intends to update the guidelines and is reproducing them here to enable practitioners to comment on their content. Please refer such comments to the ASAV office.
