Abstract:

A 3-year-old, 31-kg, intact female Belgian Malinois police dog was referred for investigation of swellings on her caudal ventral abdomen. Clinical examination revealed irreducible, fluctuating, painless, and bilateral swellings in the ventral inguinal region. These were diagnosed as bilateral inguinal hernias and the dog was admitted for herniorrhaphy via a midline ventral approach. After successful surgical repair, the dog made a complete recovery, without any recurrence evident 6 months later
