Abstract: Developing professional attributes in veterinary students is an area of increasing focus for veterinary education providers and advisory groups. These attributes span the areas of communication, collaboration, leadership, management, and emotional intelligence, as well as lifelong learning, professionalism, ethics and cultural competence.1 While some of these areas, such as communication, have been an integral part of veterinary curricula for many years, others are being given greater emphasis as their need becomes more evident, such as building resilience, wellness and long term sustainability in the profession. Competence in all of these domains is crucial for effective professional practice as a veterinarian in the twenty-first century.
